VISIT TO THE TREE FARM

Though our weekend was packed with festivities, I somehow convinced John that a trip to the tree farm was a good plan for us.  We went on Saturday morning, and it was beautiful and oh so festive.

We went last year for the first time, and though we don't get an actual Christmas tree there, the experience is such fun.  There's a petting zoo, a ride through the field and pig racing - all offered for free, as a part of the experience.  I purchase other greenery and an ornament, since we don't cut down a tree.

Doing festive, traditional experiences as a family is one of my favorite things to do.  John is so gracious to indulge this on almost a monthly basis, for which I am grateful.  He also enjoys it, but our December Saturdays are a bit crazy with the mall CFA, and he had to duck out just as the pig races were finishing.  We had driven separately so that he could head straight to work.

The kids had a great time running around, but when it came time to go, it was quite a trick getting them + the bundle of greenery that I had purchased to the car.  There was a lot of whining, and by the end, I was questioning the entire decision to come.  However, seeing the pictures reminds me that it is worth it, and there were a lot of good times too, though it didn't end well.  There's such a give and take with these ages of kiddos.

So - please don't read this blog post and think how perfect and wonderful it all looks.  Pictures can be deceiving.  It was beautiful and fun, but there was a lot of normal family stress right in the middle of it all.  Tis the Season.  Hope your December is going well!
