KANSAS FAMILY TRIP: PART TWO

After our day at the lake, there was still lots of fun to be had all together.  The weather kept us guessing, so we had to rearrange our schedule, but in the end, we did manage to do all of the things we had planned, plus a few other things, like a trip to the ER.

Bless Violet's heart - her asthma flared pretty badly.  She hadn't needed albuterol since January of 2015, and I hadn't brought any of her stuff.  🙈🙈🙈🙈  So, we headed to the ER when she began breathing too quickly.

It could have been much worse and after about an hour and a half, a breathing treatment and steroids, and a bunch of side eye from the nurses, we were able to head back to the house.  They felt moderately better about letting us leave when I told them my mother was a nurse.

Saturday afternoon, we headed to Tanganyika Wildlife Park.  We went three years ago, so it was fun to go when all of the kiddos could enjoy it.  It wasn't nearly as hot as it might of been, and overall, we had a good time - though some of the children got worn out.  That happens when there are nine of them seven and under.

(The camel riding was a big hit, and everybody did great - which was a delightful surprise!)

Mom and Wes have a great garden and let the kiddos come and help them "harvest" for dinner.

We watched Olympics and cheered on Team USA in every spare moment.

Saturday night some of us siblings and spouses snuck away for a movie night at my favorite theater.

We divided up meal responsibilities and ate at Fort Henderson (this is what John calls it, because they are really fond of locking doors) for every meal.  This worked well, since we have such a large party now, and this became one of my favorite views from the weekend.

Sunday afternoon, we hit up the trampoline park with all the kiddos.

After a quick dinner, we turned around and did family pictures trying to capture the great evening light.  Can't wait to see the magic that Main Street Studios will bring to this scene!

We had such a delightful time just being all together with cousins and siblings and Nana and Papa.

Our travel was less than stellar, but we made it home, and I'm so thankful for the time that I had with this special crew.
