Our House: Bella's Nursery

When we moved into this new house, I was 5 months pregnant with Bella.  I wanted to do a different nursery for her than I had done for Lily, while reusing the bedding and some accessories.  I love the way it came out.

It is a small room, with several doorways and a window, which made furniture placement a little challenging.  I decided to wallpaper the bottom half of the room with wood grain wallpaper from Land of Nod (the wallpaper that I have is no longer on there, but there is other, also cool, paintable wallpaper available) that I painted with our trim paint.  John graciously hung the chair rail around the room.  I painted the leaf lines around the room by cutting a piece of poster board that I traced around lines I had drawn using a level.  I rolled most of it with a small roller and did the leaves with a brush.

Above the crib, I got cheap frames from Hobby Lobby and painted them to match the trim.  I painted wooden letters to hot glue onto the frames that have scrapbook paper in them.  Then, I made bows to go on top, and viola, personalized wall art.

I saw a mobile on Etsy in this shop that I liked, and I created something similar.  Bella (and Lily for that matter) is transfixed by it, and Lily will still tweet at it.  I like that it feels unique to the room.

I used the same bedding from Lily's nursery (which I appliqued with flowers, trees and butterflies), as well as some of the art and the rug (which is also from Land of Nod as are the curtains - I really love Land of Nod.)  We got the flower lamp at an antique shop in Eureka Springs years ago and thought it would be perfect in a little girl's room someday.  We were right.

This painting was actually quite simple - I put paint into ziplock baggies and squiggled it into a tree.

And no little girl's room (in our house) is complete without the bow area.  Since my girls are bald for the first year, these are essential.  And I really like accessorizing.

All in all, I love the way it turned out.  And so does Bella.

Like I said on FB, I'm moving in. Could I have a bow area, too? I LOVE your house! When the day comes that we purchase a home I think I'll fly you out and we can decorate my house together. Aka you can decorate while I admire the beauty of all you've done.
