(Pay no attention to the horrible AT&T box in the middle of it. I am working on a canvas to cover that up.)
I taped off the section of the wall that I wanted to paint, centering it off of the horrible box right in the middle of the wall. I painted with the current wall color over the tape to make sure it wouldn't bleed - this is the best way I have found to get clean paint lines.
I painted Antique White inside the tape - it is the color of all the trim in our house, so I knew it would match everything else in the room.
Here's my helper.
I removed the tape, and taped another round of tape just inside the border, so it would make an inch border framing everything. I painted the Antique White over that as well.
Then, it was time to draw up the quatrefoil pattern - I didn't know that was the name for it until I saw it called that on Pinterest. Ahh, Pinterest - you teach me so much. The problem was, I didn't have a pattern in the right size. I was in too much of a hurry to print this one out, but you could definitely use it and enlarge it. I decided to make my own. Here's how -
This was not hard, and I like the results, though it is not perfect. I traced this onto my wall using a pencil. It is so light that it is probably hard to see.
Then, I hand-painted it all using a smallish art brush. I ♥ it! John thinks it is really funny that I wanted to paint a wall in our laundry room. I feel like it can only help me. I am not laboring under any delusion that it will make me want to do more laundry. I do think, however, that I may enjoy my time in there a little more. I am working on a few more things to finish it out, and I hope to show those next week!
