DAY IN THE LIFE: EARLY SUMMER

We are into summer!  Barely, but it sure feels hot enough for it.  Here's a quick rundown of yesterday.

8ish am:  Hearing babies whine while gazing at Papa Bear's decapitated head.  Just a normal morning.

9ish am:  The therapist that comes to our home is at the house with Violet, and I use the opportunity to take 3 kids vs. 4 on a walk.  This is only moderately successful.  I rely on bribes to make it home with one girl walking at a time while the other gets her turn in the stroller.

10ish am:  Babies saying goodbye to therapist Sarah.

Untitled

11ish am:  We eventually make our way to the pool.  It involved an enormous effort, and the twins are unsure of whether it will be an amenable activity to them upon our arrival.

Untitled

12ish pm:  We eat lunch with friends.  Thank God for friends who get it, especially on days when you don't exactly enjoy your children.  Yesterday was just one of those days.

Untitled

1ish pm:  The girls carry the toys they brought out of the pool.  I told them they could bring toys ONLY if they were responsible for them, and they did step up to the plate.

Untitled

2ish pm:  I finish up reading to the girls before their "nap" time.  We read another Berenstain Bear book - surprise, surprise.  Good thing I like most of those books.

Untitled

3ish pm:  I enjoy the relative quiet while avoiding picking up the living room.

Untitled

4ish pm: William was crying, so I got him out of his crib while Violet slept on.  Twins are amazing like that.  Lily decided to take him downstairs with her, and he was pretty thrilled with the plan.

5ish pm:  I got a text a bit before this picture that caused me to realize that I totally forgot the babies' afternoon therapy appointment, even though it happens every week.  I felt awful.  I was a bit preoccupied with packing, which was causing my table to look like this.

6ish pm:  John graciously agrees to dinner out so that I don't have to make further mess at our house.  We eat at this restaurant almost once a week, and the staff knows us very well.  I heart Mexican food.

Untitled

7ish pm:  LILY RIDES HER BIKE UNASSISTED!  It was a real moment of triumph, and we are so proud of her.  Also, I can now highly recommend the Strider bikes, as this is totally what taught her balance.  We were no good at that.

Untitled

8ish pm:  John reads the Bible to the girls and lets them do his hair.

Untitled

9ish pm:  I peruse our newest photo album from Shutterfly.  They recently did away with the type of cover that I had purchased for all of our other albums, which was greatly disappointing to me.  I emailed several times and discovered that there are no plans to bring it back, and you cannot order it "off menu" like I asked.  I do sort of like the new type of cover, so all is well that ends well.  I can adjust.  #firstworldproblems

10ish pm:  This boy was crying a lot.  He's such a sweetie when pulled from bed, and we enjoyed some cuddles before getting him some ibuprofen and tucking him back in.  Teething bites.

Here's to summer!
