GAME DRIVE IN AKAGERA

One of the highlight experiences we had was going on a game drive in Akagera National Park.  I got to do this last time I was in country, but taking my children + more friends was extra magical.

We had an interesting/stressful time getting to the park, and when we got there, things were a bit harried.  (see Courtney's take on it all here!)  Our children "enjoyed" a brief time of swimming in the chilly pool before us having a long, 5 course dinner experience. 😳🤣 Our rooms really were quite comfortable, and while I was falling asleep, I did hear baboons going from door to door trying to get into rooms, which added to the ambiance.  (I know that sounds sarcastic, but it really did make it seem more fun!  I knew the baboons couldn't get in, and my kids thought it was so cool.)

We got up early for a delightful breakfast buffet and entirely spectacular sunrise before loading into our vehicles and heading out!

one elephant and a baby hippo,

and 3 giraffes hanging out and eating leaves like the tall giraffe bosses that they are.

Our children really loved this - though both twins took turns falling asleep in our vehicle.  We really kept an intense pace for the whole trip.  But getting to see animals in their natural habitat was unforgettable!
