Basically, we changed the color/style/material of most surfaces without redoing any of the floor plan or appliances. We added cabinetry above our existing cabinets and had them all painted to match our trim. Because our home has an open floor plan, and I do not want to repaint our everything, we were a bit locked into the antique white trim, and the wall color in the breakfast nook. I tried to base decisions off of those to have it all tie together.

The island is painted gray to mix things up just a bit. I love the white farmhouse kitchens, and I tried to hit that note while also keeping true to my pretty traditional home. Because I do like our hardwood floors, I worked to also tie in some wood tones throughout.

(The vent hood was custom built based on the Downtown Aly's kitchen that i adore. I also ordered the same stools she did and painted them to match our island.)

The countertops are Quartzite, and they are as beautiful as I imagined. Unfortunately, due to a brand new salesman, they are not quite as low-maintenance as I had been led to believe. So, we've had some issues with spots showing up, and we are in the process of getting it sealed to be more durable. That has been frustrating, but thankfully, my contractor has been great to work through all of this with me.

I ordered our farmhouse sink and faucet from Wayfair and love them both.
The backsplash is white hexagon tile with a greige grout. After most things were done, we decided to have them also tile the only "wall" in the kitchen. I'm pretty obsessed with how it turned out.

We did have our very weird tiny bar removed to make the counter by the sink one large, much more usable space.
Once the glass and the lights were installed in the upper cabinets, we realized we wanted opaque glass and that we could have my brother make it even more special. He's a glass artist, and once I sent him pictures, we decided it would be great to match the glass in our front door which he also did several years ago. Over Christmas, he put the glass in the doors while we were in Wichita. It was the perfect finishing touch!

I really am loving it, and since I spend a lot of time here, it feels good to love it. Let me know if you have any questions! I am certainly NOT an expert, but I am pleased with our outcomes.
