The weather Sat was horrible, but we made the best of it. After we surprised Steph at the hotel, we dressed up and headed out for dinner at Rise no. 1, which John and I had enjoyed a few years ago. They serve primarily souffles, and I am always here for good theming + delicious food.

From there we headed to Hamilton! Since the last time John and I saw it in Chicago, I have listened to the soundtrack about a bazillion times and know every word. Seeing it a second time was amazing, and we loved it just as much. It really is straight up brilliant and captivating.

We stayed up talking until 2:30 a.m. like we were still in college without a care in the world and certainly not 8 kids between us back at our respective homes. It is such a gift to spend time with people you have walked so much of life with in so many different seasons.
We rolled out of bed in time to have a delightful brunch where I over ordered food as if it might have been my last meal and enjoyed the Sparkle Bar. Our last stop was Trader Joe's, where I was reminded all over again of how many wonderful things they have. Please come to Little Rock, Trader Joe's. That does not feel like too much to ask. We will give you all of our money.

One of the last things I wanted to do before we left Texas was to get a picture in the blooming Blue Bonnets. They are so lovely. And blue. John was so gracious to indulge me and park hazardously on the interstate so we could tromp around in a muddy patch of tall grass and then squat by some flowers and squint into the sun. Very romantic.

But I do love the pictures and am thankful that John speaks my love language of taking photos. It was a whirlwind trip that I will cherish forever!
