In the midst of all the international travel, and the daily life going on, I haven't posted much about the kids or what we've been up to as a family. Two days after getting back from Europe, we hopped into a car and drove to Kansas with the kiddos to spend time with my family for Thanksgiving. There are a LOT of cousins on my side, so it was a wild time, but so fun to be all together. John was in Kansas less than 24 hours, because of stuff he needed to get back to in Little Rock.

It was good to be thankful, though John and I both ended up getting sick by the end of the week due to the level of crazy that it was to do all of that in two weeks. The kids were good, however, so that's always a plus. And, since this is a truncated Christmas season, we've been at full steam ahead with holiday activities. There's been lots of fun at school.

And I've managed to attend two different Favorite Things parties with two of my favorite groups.

We went to Garvan Gardens to see the lights with friends - always a favorite tradition.

John and I also managed to sneak in a festive wine tasting, and a date night at the Capital Hotel with the prettiest Christmas tree in Little Rock.
I really am hating having about a week less to relish the holiday fun this year, and I am letting go of trying to do all the things. I don't think we will make it to the Tree Farm, and I am making fewer cookies than ever, except for the Rainbow Cookie Box. I'm trying to soak in the sweetness of where we are right now and celebrate Advent and remember why we do all of this. Jesus came once as a baby, and he promises to come back someday. Until then - we will just be waiting and holding out hope.
