Weekend: Birmingham is Awesome

John and I have concluded that if you have to move someplace besides home, Birmingham is a pretty good place to land.  We are here at the prettiest time of year, since all of the trees are blossoming all over the place, and it is so hilly, with beautiful ridges overlooking spectacular views.  We have been visiting our dear friends, the Head family - Adam and Courtney, and their three boys, Peyton, 4, Lawson, 2 and Emerson, 3 months.  There is a lot of excitement with five kiddos 4 and under - never a dull moment.

On Saturday, we moseyed on through the Birmingham Zoo and enjoyed God's creativity in all the uniqueness of different animals.  We spent quite a while trying to figure out why the giraffe's tongue looked like a dead fish or snake flopping around his mouth.  Disgusting, though the kids were enthralled.

Great to see the kiddos taking in the monkeys - they loved the "Social Animal" exhibit.

Zoo 1

Sweet moment.  Lily really did think the monkeys were magical.

Lily loved being out and being chased by John, though she also loved sitting next to Bella.

She was so tired after the zoo that she sacked out in the car.

Saturday night we ate out with all of our little friends at California Pizza Kitchen.  Here are the littlest friends waiting to go inside.

The older kids really enjoyed playing together, and Lily rocked the John Deere Tractor.

On Sunday, we enjoyed a picnic in the park, since the weather was absolutely amazing.  Such good times with good friends.

Leaving Birmingham tomorrow will be a sad day.
