FAMILY FUN DAY

Saturday morning we stayed in bed til almost 9.  That was definitely a gift.  The girls kept piling onto us, and we joked that they should pick out our clothes.  Lily asked which tie John wanted to wear, and when he said he wasn't going to work, she asked if it was Sunday.  What a telling question.  Because of the way things have gone, John hasn't taken a Saturday off since Bella's birthday in October.  But - he wanted to spend time with everyone before Lily headed back to school today, so he initiated a Family Fun Day.

And it was so fun to just be together and not have anything major we had to accomplish or celebrate.

We headed to Flying Fish for an early lunch, and everyone enjoyed their fish and fries and crackers.

It was cold and rainy and generally yuck, so we opted for the Museum of Discovery, which turned out to be a delightful choice for all involved.  The kiddos all had a great time, and it really is fun to see the twins start to enjoy the things we do together.

William was having so much fun that he didn't want to leave.  He is perfecting the art of the silent protest where he just throws himself down on the floor and lays there pitifully.

We swung by Community Bakery for a few treats on our way home for a late nap.

Quality time is certainly one of my top love languages, and it was good for my soul to have unhurried, unscheduled time with everyone.  The rest of the weekend brought packing up Christmas, watching the first two Back to the Future movies (they travel to 2015, and it was really funny/fascinating to compare to actual 2015.  side-note - where are all of the flying cars?) and working on photo books.  It was low-key.  We did take away the babies' pacifiers, and they are doing okay.  Actually, Violet hasn't skipped a beat, but William is acting like he's in serious withdrawal.  The car is the worst place for this.  I've had to remind myself that he was screaming even with the paci, so giving it to him would not be the answer to all of our problems.  He disagrees.

I hope your new year is off to a great start!
