Summing up what Bella is like these days is a bit of a challenge. She seems to be an exercise in extremes, which I feel like often comes with this three year old territory. She is truly one of the most affectionate children I've come across. She will grab my face with both of her hands and pull me close to her so she can kiss my cheek. She is constantly kissing the babies, and for whatever reason, these are often open mouthed kisses to their cheeks and foreheads that leave giant wet spots. She loves to hug and cuddle. She is just plain fun to have around.
She is exceptionally observant about clothing or decorations that have been changed up and will readily compliment things that she likes. She is a great little conversationalist and will ask questions and think of pertinent things to talk about. It is so enjoyable to see these things start to take shape in her personality.
There are hard things that also come with this age. Though Bella is a middle child, I am fairly certain she will never blend into the background of our family life. We are doing a lot of teaching and learning right now of how to handle our emotions, how to never bite and how to not scream. Also, potty training has completely stalled - since it had been her idea, I was sort of counting on her zeal for it carrying us through it. Turns out, she didn't have enough to power us to the goal, so we are just in a holding pattern for now. Hopefully someday soon, we will turn that corner.
Bella is a joy and privilege to have in our family. We are so thankful to be her parents and love her so dearly. Happy birthday, sweet Bellapotomus. You are so loved and cherished.
