This past week and weekend had a lot of things happening - largely because we were celebrating a birthday.  Here's a high/low rundown.

High:  We took all the kids + giant Hello Kitty to Krispy Kreme for donuts on Friday morning, which was Bella's actual birthday.  They gave us our whole order for free when we told them we were celebrating.  It was a fun way to start the day.

(a "kitty"tonic Bella zoned in on cartoons)

Low:  We headed straight from there to the Panera drive-thru to get some real breakfast for the adults.  Several children melted down completely while in line, and this is one of those lines that traps you with large concrete curbs, so we endured a fair amount of crying and screaming.  John's new rule is to never go through that drive-thru with kids if there are any cars in front of us.

High:  The girls loved the giant Hello Kitty balloon and had her doing all their activities with them, including jumping on the bed.

Low:  One of Hello Kitty's legs did not make it through the bed-jumping.  Imagine that.  She was a bit gimpy for the party.

High:  The Hello Kitty party.  It turned out to be a lot of fun.

Low:  Preparing for the Hello Kitty party.  This is the first party I've done since having four kiddos, and there is a harsh reality that someone always needs something, so there is less time.  I was pretty stressed right before the party wondering if things were going to come together.

High:  Mom and Wes spent the weekend with us.  It was so much fun to see them and to let them see how much the babies have grown and developed since the last time we were with them.  They were extremely helpful with party prep and clean up, and having my mother around is always one of my favorite things.  Wes is awesome too.  We are so blessed to have them as grandparents.

Low:  Despite the fact that we tried to wear them out, all children had a bad night of sleep on Sat night.  The babies were up several time.  We heard the girls around 6 and later discovered that they had started jumping off of their bed at 4:30 a.m.  Since their room is right above our guest room, Wes was able to give us that inside info.  All morning it was like the sugar they had had the day before was finally hitting.  They were wound up.  But, as you can imagine - they were pretty whiny the rest of the day.

Low:  After church and teaching Sunday school, we debated on what to do for lunch.  We made the wrong choice and ended up having a rather silent Cracker Barrel meal.  As in, the parents were rather silent, not the children.  Never the children.

Low:  Seeing Hello Kitty when I close my eyes.

High:  We regrouped after the bad lunch and took naps ourselves, which helped turn life around a bit.  Amazing how naps can do that.  Then, we headed to the river for John to go running with a friend and me to walk with the babies.  The weather was nice, and getting outside to be active was just what we needed.

Low:  Coming around the corner and being startled by the giant Hello Kitty balloon.  This has happened several times.  Out of the corner of my eye, it is like a small person.  I've started calling her Hello Creeper.

And now we are deep into Monday and hoping the Dodgers can get a win in this series.  There have been a lot of Dodger Dogs consumed in the last week, since you had to purchase 4 sets of them to have them shipped.  John is perfecting gourmet hot dogs and has come up with some winning combinations. Happy Monday night - hope your week is off to a good start!
