WICHITA WEEKEND

Lily had a few days off from school, and I knew that John could use some dedicated working time, so I decided to be brave and drive the kids to Wichita by myself.  Then, I chickened out a bit and got my sister to ride with me.  That meant that I drove 3 hours by myself with the kiddos, and then added another toddler, but also another adult.  That second adult really is a game-changer.  This is what our car looked like as we headed to Wichita around 8 p.m. on Wed night.

There were four screens playing two movies, five children five and under (plus one in utero!), goldfish flying everywhere and one child who shall not be named but was not mine who did not fall asleep until we were in Wichita around midnight.  Overall, it went pretty well.

It was fun to have all the cousins together, and we took the opportunity to go to Wichita's new trampoline park, which is always a hit with my kids.

Anytime the children were all awake, it felt basically like running an in-home day-care might feel.

It was so nice to get out of town, and it was great to hang with my fam.

Mom and Wes just finished up some beautiful landscaping in their backyard, including this fountain that the girls especially loved playing around.

We met up at CFA (where else?!?) for breakfast.  Time with Mom and sisters is precious.  (Just missing my sis-in-love who had to work this morning!)

While at CFA, it was my responsibility to try to get Garth Brooks tickets for us and some friends.  There was a countdown clock, and my stomach was in knots.  I ended up on the phone with a friend trying to both get tickets at the same time to see who would get the best ones first.  We ended up getting floor seats, and it was quite a rush after the intensity!  Looking forward to it.

I got one picture with all cousins together, and it totally cracks me up.  We could not get Max to smile, no matter what we did.  William's head turned to the side with his cheeky grin is his new picture go-to.  So funny.  And I don't know why Lily felt the need to put her hands in the air, but she was smiling, so I just went with it!

All in all, it was good time, and I'm so thankful for family that helps in the midst of everything going on at the home front.  What a blessing!
