We actually drove about two hours away to the north and the west of Central Arkansas to a place called Falling Waters. It's not too difficult to find, but some of the directions I found online were confusing - however, just know that if you go - you turn off of Highway 7 at the sign that says Falling Waters Horse Camp.
The nice thing about this place is that it is right by the road. I knew our crew was not likely to be able to hike much, and we didn't have to. I also knew that going in the middle of the week would give us a chance to swim with fewer people, and we actually had the place to ourselves some of the time. Because it is summer, the falls were more of a trickle - some times of the year, there is water flowing over most of the shelf. I would love to see it with more water!

Arkansas really is just gorgeous and comes by its moniker of "The Natural State" quite naturally. Getting outdoors and seeing a new place was a treat! The kiddos mostly loved swimming - though the twins definitely had some bad moments. It was a much cooler day than I was expecting for July. We swam and ate lunch and swam some more.

(They are getting so BIG! I glanced back at this post from 2012 and almost cried at how much they've grown.)

We packed up the stuff that we had scattered everywhere, and we made our way back to Central Arkansas, stopping at Marketplace in Conway for Flaming Queso and Chocolate Messes for all. Definitely a great afternoon treat.

We had some rough moments in the car, and at one point, I actually snapped and threw a snack trap at one of my kids (not my best moment 😁) - so, I am pretty glad we aren't headed to far-flung locales with this crew just now. Spending time all together is so worth it, but not every moment is wonderful. Thankfully, we have great friends that make it even more worth it. Thanks, Helmicks for joining us and being willing to follow us down a poorly marked dirt road - it was fun!
